six short breaks from the UAE

The next public holiday in the United Arab Emirates is fast approaching and if you are planning to use the break for a last minute getaway then there are plenty of options this Eid Al Adha.

While the exact dates of the upcoming holidays depend on moon sightings, Arafat Day is believed to fall on July 9 this year.

This means that the holidays of Eid Al Adha will most likely start on Sunday July 10th, which would be a public holiday.

For UAE staff, this means a long weekend ahead, with the majority of staff expected to be off Saturday 9 July to Tuesday 12 July.

Here are some destinations you can fly to from UAE this Eid Al Adha.

Santorini, Greece

With Etihad Airways, flydubai and Wizz Air all offering flights to the picturesque Greek island, this could be the perfect time to pay a visit to the whitewashed villages and famous blue domes.

With a flight time of four hours and 40 minutes and no Covid-19 restrictions on travelers entering the country, a long weekend strolling the tiled streets and sampling fresh seafood is within easy reach.

Wizz Air operates three flights a week on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays from the capital direct to Santorini throughout the summer, while Etihad also flies three times a week from Abu Dhabi on Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays.

The Khareef season runs from July to September and is one of the most attractive times to visit the Sultanate thanks to the cool, refreshing weather it brings.

Wizz Air operates three weekly flights from Abu Dhabi direct to Salalah during the summer months on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays with fares from Dh820 during the Eid break.

Hiking or cycling tours up the pine-covered Vrmac mountain offer sweeping views of the bay and surrounding area, while Gornja Lastva, an abandoned 14th-century village 3 kilometers from Tivat, offers a journey into the past.

Flydubai flies from Dubai to Tivat twice a week throughout the summer. Flight times are five hours and 40 minutes on Fridays and Mondays and prices during the Eid break start from Dh5,650.
